(541) 726-3689 City of Springfield Building De:partment Attn: Dave Puent Building inspector Re:: Storm Drainal!e/Runnff for the: Fairhaven Subdivision develonme:nt I have made an inspection of the above referenced site to assess the need for foundation drains. The soil type is mapped as Oxl!'y gravelly silt loam, but a site investigation revealed that the characteristics more closely resemble; :Salem gravelly silt loam (which is mapped near this site). The soil is well drained and the penne!lbilityis moderate to rapid; the percolation rate is estimated to be over 4 inches per hour. FClundatjon drains are not necessary on this site to assure the protection of the proposed structures. Anothe:r consideration is the ground wat~ table elevation. Oxley soli formations normally have perched water tables that are ne:lIf the surface. Salem soil formalions have water tables that are greater than six feet deep. In either case, high ground water should Rot be a problem because the drainage channel to the north would allow a perched water table to "drain". additional information. Don B.
