RE: Aggregate Compaction Evaluation
Galbreath Residence
809 $0. 7r St.
Springfield, Oregon
On January 4, 2003 an engineer from Ford-Nass-Fassbender, Inc. visited the subject site to
assess the building pad conditionS with respect to the relative eompactJon of the aggregate
cover. The building pad IS a stepped pad with 4- to 6vinc;hes of compacted 1.5"..0" and %"-0"
aggregate except for the northWeSt comer that hea up to 4 feet of iot~~1 ",vale flU. The aggregate
fill in the northWest comer consists of 3.5~ -0" base rOCk covered by 1.5"-0. and tapped with %".
OM.
Based on site telting and probing, the aggregateS from Springfield Qua~ have been
compacted to at least 95% of the materials maximum dry density as determined by AASHTO T~
99 method. The subgrade and aggregate fiU are suitable for conventional residential style, .
perimeter footing construction. We recommend that aU footings be reinforced Wltn at least tWo. :: .
#4 steel reinforcing bars, and that surface water be dIrected away from the foundations and-riOt-
allowed to pond adjacent to footings. We do not recommend allowlng dump--trucks, conci'~te':'-
truek.$ or other heavy equipment onto the building pad during wet weather, \ , ' .
