W.O.#14926-ARC - B.P.#2002-01-209 As you requested, a site soils investigation was performed at the above noted address on November 2, 2002. Design for the site IS as follows All fill, vegetation, and unbuildable matenal has been removed to natiVe grade. At the upper bench the surface SOil IS a Silty clay loam with a UnifIed Soils Classification of Ml-CL and a plastICity index less than 15 A stnp of clay SOil with a Unified Salls Classification of CL and a plasticity index greater than 20 IS approximately 24" below grade. The SOil IS hIghly expansIve. A minimum 12" of undisturbed sOil IS to be left over the clay strrp to moderate the effect of the expansive soils at the proposed bUIlding site. At the middle and lower bench the native soil IS a gravelly clay loam with a Unified SOils ClasSIfIcation of GC and a plasticity index less than 15. Crushed rock is to be placed in 6" lifts to bring the site up to deSired finished grade. The crushed rock should be placed and then compacted Wlt~ either a VIbratory plate or roller. Drainage shall be installed at the perimeter footings to help maintaIn optimum soil moisture at the sIte. With the undisturbed soil and the placement of the crushed rock, combined with the excavation that is of adequate depth and width, the site as prepared IS adequate to aSSure a stable mOisture content for the proposed foundation. On November 4, 2002 a site and compaction Inspection was performed after fill placement at the t middle and lower benches. The excavation meets the reqUIrements as speCIfied in thiS letter The compacted surface of the crushed rock IS adequate to support a conventIonal wood framed residence With a standard foundation per the 2000 State of Oregon One and Two Family Dwelling SpecIalty Code as adopted per the local junsdiction. The compaction of the gravel surface is greater than 95% of a standard proctor, per ASTM 0698-91_ Thank you for thIS opportunity to be of service, The enclosed BUIlding Analysis Report and Statement of Conditions and Limitations IS a part ofthis report.
