Design for the site is as follows: AU fill. vegetation. and unbuildable material has been removed to native grade. The native SOIl is 8 clay. with some 8" to 12" diameter rocf(s. with a Unified Solis ClaasiflC8tiOn of CH and a plasticItY index of greeter than 20. This soil is considered B moderately expansive clay (after Holtz 1959). The gravel pad for the building site st10uld be a minimum of 12" of compacted crushed rock placed with a tracked dozer or excavator. and compacted with 8 vibratory plate or roller. Mortier EngIneering. P.C. supervised the profiling of the soHs for removal of water.
