Subject: Special inspection requirements for tilt-up conerde
Dear Mr. Edlund:
In response to your recent query, I reviewed Lhe Cit)"s
concrete inspection requiremenLs with our Building Official. We
have determined that a special inspt:ctor must be employed on
Lhe job during the placement of concrete fo,' the tilt-up walls.
The exception which references the exemptions for slAbs refers
primarily to non.!structural slabs which are to remain aL gJ'ade.
Therefore, it will be necessary for )'ou to have a qualified
special inspector, who is certified for structural concrete,
continuousl)' on the site durin~ the times that concrete is being
placed. I have enclosed an excerpt from the Springfield
Building Codes, AdministrAtive Code de~ling' wiLh these
requirements for YOUI' convenience.
Please contact me at 726-3759 if you need further clarification
on this matter.
Sincerely,
A~/ftR-
