Subject: Firc damage at 3:J61 Elliot Lane, Springfield, Oregon
Dear Mr. Sherman:
At the request of the Springfield Fire and Life Safety Department, the Building
,Safety Division recentl? conducted an inspection of the fire damage at the above
address. The inspection revealed damage which must be corrected in order for
the building to comply with applicable Cit? codes, The following items must be
repaired or replaced:
Electrical
1. All firc damaged wIrmg and equipmcnt must be replaced or repaired in
compliance with applicable code requirements.
2. Enclose all. unprotected splices in approved junction boxes to prevent the
potential for fire or electric shock.
3. The open front of the service panel repre'sents a hazard for potential shock
or fires due to exposed "live" wires, contacts and equipment. Replace the
service panel covcr to eliminate this hazard.
4. Repair or replace wiring that has been damaged b? means other than the
fire.
Note: It is recommended that the wInng system and service equipment bc
replaced, due to the obset'ved condition and serviceability of this equipment.
Permits will be rcquired for the above items, or an~' additional modific:ations you
may desire which involve changes or additions to the structural, electrical,
mechanical or plumbing s~'stems. Required permits may bc obtained from this
office.
Duc to 'the hazardous nature of items #2 & 3, those corrections must be comple-
ted within the next 15 days, or proced ures necessary to cause the building to be
vacated may' be initiated. The remaining items must be corrected within 30 days
from the date of this letter.
