ISSUE STATEMENT: On February 4, 2008, the Council approved the contract with the John Hyland Constr. Inc. for CM/GC on the Thurston Fire Station # 16 Project - P20534. The Council directed staff to return with the Guaranteed Maximum Price proposal for each segment of the work identified in the contract. ATTACHMENTS: Attachment A - Temporary Facilities Site Plan DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL IMPACT: On October 1,2007, the Council conducted a Public Hearing and authorized the construction of Thurston Fire Station #16 with John Hyland Constr. Inc as the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC). On February 4, 2008, the Council approved the CM/GC contract with John Hyland Constr. Inc. That contract provides that a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) proposal will be submitted for each component of the work (Fire Station #3 Remodel, Thurston Fire Station #16 Temporary Facilities, and Fire Station #16 Construction). The GMP for the Fire Station #16 Temporary Facilities has been submitted with a proposed construction cost of $87,811. The temporary facilities will allow for a modular housing unit to be installed on leased property adjacent to the Thurston Fire Station (See Attachment A). The work consists of site improvements to the leased parcel including a concrete driveway apron from 68th Place, gravel parking lot, gravel pad for the living quarters trailer, and relocation of all utilities (water, sanitary/storm sewers, & electricity).
