Vote to Approve or Disapprove the following motion:
AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
CHRISTENSON ELECTRIC, INC IN THE AMOUNT OF $122,216.00 FOR
MATERIALS AND LABOR AND APPROXIMA TEL Y $15,000 FOR
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS AND LABOR COSTS TO PROVIDE
HORIZONTAL STATION WIRING AND BACKBONE (RISER) CABLE
PLANT INSTALLATION FOR THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD mSTICE
CENTER
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
With construction of the City of Springfield Justice Center well underway, the City
sought a Contractor to provide the horizontal station wiring and backbone (riser)
cable plant installation for the City of Springfield Justice Center. This invitation to
bid process recently ended with staff recommending awarding the bid to the low
bidder, Christenson Electric, Inc. Staff has not fully completed the contract
negotiation with the Contractor, but due to construction timelines seeks Council
approval authorizing the City Manager to execute the contract with Christenson
Electric, Inc. upon final contract review by the City Attorney.

DISCUSSION/
FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
On March 7, 2008 the Notice of Intent to Award was sent to Christenson Electric,
Inc. Staff is currently negotiating the contract with the Contractor, but seeks
Council approval authorizing the City Manager to execute the contract with
Christenson Electric, Inc. while council is on recess. This is necessary to meet
construction timelines. Funding for this contract work will come from the furniture,
fixtures, and equipment line item of the project. There is sufficient funding
available in that line item to cover the cost of this contract.
Proposals received for this work were:
Christenson Electric, Inc. - $122,216.00
National Network Services of Oregon, Inc. - $131,398.00
Integrated Systems Group - $138,078.13
Cache Valley Electric - $146,088.73
Cascade Communication Services, Inc. - $149,250.10
The estimated $15,000 for additional materials and labor costs to provide horizontal
station wiring and backbone (riser) cable plant installation was not included in the
original RFP.
