POLICE RECOGNITION OF CITIZEN: CRAIG MORRIS

On January 30,2008 at 10:19 pm, Officers responded to find a 36 year old male laying
on the floor with a cut to the throat about 6 inches long. He was able to talk and gave
officers the name and description of the suspect.
The Lane Transit District was contacted and given the description of Dean. A short time
later L TO called back advising their driver, Craig Morris had dropped the suspect off at
58th and Main St. Mr. Morris reported that he last saw the suspect walking eastbound on
Main St. Research by Police staff produced an address associated with the suspect and
found him to be at that location where he was taken into custody.
As a direct result of the action by Mr. Morris, the suspect was taken into custody within
sixty minutes of the event. The rapidity of finding the suspect enabled the recovery of
critical evidence that likely would have otherwise been lost. A quick arrest for attempted
murder was made asa product of the assistance of Mr. Morris.
The Springfield Police Department is proud to extend its appreciation for the service of
Mr. Morris in the apprehension of a violent criminal.
