RE: SUB's Gateway Substation Control House, Building Permit NO.9 80928
Ken:
This project belongs to Tom Weller, but he is on vacation for a couple
weeks so I will tell you what I know. .
In conjunction with our transformer's oii containment system, we have
installed 150 foot sections of slotted 6" PVC along the east and west
fencelines of the substation. The yard is crowned with a two percent
slope running to the east and west. These slotted PVC's act as
industrial sized french drains, which work because of the soil profile.
At 2 foot depth. the site has medium dense sandy silt, and at 5 feet, a
cobbly, sandy gravel layer.
We have installed the drains at a depth penetrating two feet into the
cobbly/gravei layer. We intend to utiiize these drains to continue to
capture the runoff from the control house roofs tributary area.
This system proved more than adequate for the heaviest storm rains this
last winter, The site never exhibited standing water and maintained its
bearing capacity at all times, reinforcing my belief that the site is'
very well drained.
Please call me direct at 744-3717 or 954-2465 (cell) with any questions.
