Dear Mr. and Mrs, Harris:
It has been reported to this office that unauthorized entry, use, and removal of
contents has taken place at your above-referenced property which has been
declared unfit for use by the Lane Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team
because of illegal drug manufacturing.
Because the property has been determined to be an illegal drug manufacturing
site, it has been placed under certain restrictions. These restrictions make it
unlawful for you to rent, lease, or use this site in any way (this means no entry or
occupancy whatsoever, including, but not limited to, for the purpose of cleaning,
remodeling, or demolition) until it has been assessed for contamination, any
necessary decontamination work performed, and the site issued a Certificate of
Fitness by the Health Division. Assessment and any needed decontamination must
be performed by a drug lab decontamination contractor licensed by the Health
Division (ORS 453.885).
If you have not done so, you are hereby advised to secure your property in order
to prevent entry or use until it is assessed and any required decontamination work
performed by a licensed contractor. Failure to abide by these requirements may
result in exposure of people to hazardous chemicals. Penalties may be imposed
for unauthorized use and/or decontamination of this property (ORS
453.990[4][5]). Also, increased costs will be incurred in assessing and
decontaminating the site if it has been disturbed.
