Subject: Fire Department Referral at 4260 Daisy Street Springfield, Oregon.

At the request of the Springfield Fire and Life Safety Department, the ,"
Building Safety Division conducted a' building safety inspection at the
above address. The inspection revealed conditions which must be corrected
in order for the building to comply with applicable City Building Safety
Codes. The following items must be repaired, replaced, installed or
modified:
Structural
1. Windows and/or doors are broken or missing creating a potential for
weather infiltration.
2. Every dwelling unit and guest room shall be provided with heating
facilities capable of maint.aining a room temperature of 68 degrees F. at a
point 3 feet above the floor in all habitable rooms.
3. Existing wiring in walls shall be adequately protected from damage by the
application of approved wall materials, such as 1/4" paneling or 1/2"
gypsum board. Carpeting tacked to the studs is not acceptable as adequate
protection and adds to the potential for the spread of fire.
4. The wood landing outside the rear exit door, of the building shall be
repaired to eliminate existing voids in the :walking surface.
5. Because of numerous potential hazards affecting the safe use of the attic
storage area, this portion of the structure cannot be used for sleeping
quarters, or any other form of human habitation. The interior ladder must
be removed and the interior opening to the attic closed off to prevent
access for such use.

Electrical
6. Broken or missing cover plates were noted on electrical outlets, switches
and/or junction boxes which require replacement to reduce the possibility
of electrical shock or fire.
7. Exposed elec:trical wiring subject to physical damage shall be protected at
the water heater. Flexible conduit protection shall be extended and
secured to the point .of connection of the water heater in an approved
manner.
The above refers to conditions which exist in the converted garage
structure rehind the residence.
This property is zoned for use as a single family dwelling only. This
building may remain occupied only as long as the property is rented as a
single family dwelling and the occupants are related to the renter of the
property.

The required corrections shall be completed with appropriate inspection
approvals from this office within fifteen (15) days from the date of this
notice. In the event you do not comply with these requirements within the
specified time limit, legal action may be taken to obtain compliance.
