You advised me that the additional mobile home will be used in conjunction with the existing mobile home and will be attached thereto in some manner. Enclosed is a letter from this office to the Oregon State Building Codes Division which monitors mobile home and mobile home accessory structure al- terations. We will be contacting you for compliance with the Oregon Admin- istrative Rules as soon as we resolve the question regarding local government verses State government jurisdictional duties. OREGON 97477 PUBLIC WORKS January 21, 1980 346 MAIN STREET 726-3753 / Mr. Wes Galloway Chief, Mobile Horne Set-up and Structural Section Building Codes Division 401 Labor & Industries Building Salem, Oregon 97310 Dear Mr. Galloway: A situation has arisen in Springfield regarding mobile home alterations which requires clarification relative to OAR 23-1520: "Appointment of Local Govern- ment for Alteration of Mobile Homes. and Mobile Horne Accessory Buildings and Structures. ..". The resident at 5295 Cynthia Court, Springfield, Oregon, has moved in a second, smaller mobile home to be used as a new bedroom to his existing mobile home. It appears that a new doorway will be cut into one or the other mobile home. OAR 23-520 limits inspections and issuance of permits for alterations of mobile homes and mobile home accessory structures to specific items which do not include major mobile home alterations. The Oregon Administrative Rules pertaining to safety and structural standards for mobile homes and accessory structures indicate that a State plans review and subsequent inspection(s) are in order. Please advise. Sincerely, , &tkJ-- fw Sally Johnson Mobile Horne Inspector cc: Ronald B. Clark Superintendent of Building Resident 5295 Cynthia Court Springfield, Oregon 97477 SJ/lj
