W1th the ass1stance of the Spr1ngf1eld BU1lding D1v1s1on, a representat1ve from the
Spr1ngf1eld Water Pollut1on Control Plant w1ll be conduct1ng grease trap 1nspect1ons
throughout the C1ty of Sprlngfleld. Sectlon 711 of the Oregon State Plumblng Spec1al-
ty Code (PSC) states "...an approved type grease lnterceptor complYlng wlth the
prOV1Slons of thlS sectlon shall be installed In the waste llne lead1ng from slnk,
dra1ns, and other f1xtures, or equ1pment 1n the follow1ng establ1shments' restaurants,
cafes, lunch counter, cafeterlas, bars, clubs, hotel, hospltal, samtarlum, factory,
or school k1tchen, or other establ1shments where grease may be 1ntroduced 1nto the
dra1nage or sewage system 1n quant1t1es that can effect llne stoppage or hlnder sewage
treatment or prlvate sewage d1sposal..."
Your establ1shment has been 1nspected and 1t was found that 1n order to comply wlth
the above, you w1ll need to 1nstall a grease 1nterceptor. No grease 1nterceptor
shall be 1nstalled Wh1Ch has an approved rate of flow of less than 20 gallons per
m1nute and grease retent10n capac1ty of 40 pounds. Sectlon 711 (d) - (PSC) states
"...Each plumb1ng f1xture or p1ece of equ1pment connected to a grease dev1ce 1nstal-
led 1n a read1ly accessible and v1s1ble located 1n the tall p1ece or dra1n outlet
of each such f1xture. Flow control dev1ces shall be so des1gned that the total flow
through such dev1ce or dev1ces shall at no t1me be greater than the rate capac1ty
of the 1nterceptor. No flow control dev1ce hav1ng adjustable or removable parts
shall be approved. ."
Slnce the bU1ld-up of grease 1n the llnes and 11ft stat10n wet wells causes a great
amount of ma1ntenance result1ng 1n unwarranted costs to the publ1c, a c1ty-wlde
program to determ1ne the adequacy and cond1t1on of these 1nstallat1ons lS be1ng
conducted by a Spr1ngf1eld Water Pollutlon Control Plant Representat1ve.
All necessary perrn1ts shall be obta1ned before work beg1ns and all 1nspectlons
for such work shall be requlred by call1ng the Clty of Spr1ngfleld lnspect10n
llne at 726-3769.
