. RE: Fire Damage Inspection at 765 North A Street, Springfield, Oregon
Dear Mr. Smathers:
At the request of the Springfield Fire Department a Fire Damage Inspection was made
at the above address on May 5, 1983. At that time other hazardous conditions were
also found to exist in violation of the Oregon Electrical Safety Code as adopted by
the City of Springfield, Oregon.
The following electrical items must be repaired .or replaced within 15 days from the
date of this letter to conform with the National Electrical Code as adopted by the
City of Springfield:
A. Fire Damage:
1) Broken conduit fitting(s) (probably a result of fire control efforts).
2) Much water in electrical system under sprinkler areas. NOTE: At time of
inspection immediate disconnection of electrical power to affected area
by licensed electrical contractor was requested by Electrical Inspector.
B. Other Violations:

1) Lighting fixtures wired contrary to electrical safety code.
a) Single conductor wiring from junction boxes to lights. National Electrical
Safety Code (H.E.C.) 518- 1 & 3,110-8.
b) . No grounding means provided. N.E.C. 410-18, 410-21. .
c) Insulation burnt on conductors. N.E.C. 410-22, 410-24.
All necessary permits shall be obtained before work starts and all work shall be
accomplished according to applicable codes and inspected before a Certificate of
Compliance will be issued.
