On November 7,2007, our office issued permits to you, for the construction of an
accessory dwelling unit to be located at 2048 L Street, Springfield, Oregon. When the
plans examiner calculated your fees, he incorrectly charged a fee which included only
one mechanical appliance ($20.00). He should have charged you $40.00 which is the
correct fee for two or more mechanical appliances, making a balance due of $20.00. lam
enclosing a copy of the permit that was issued, a copy of the original receipt, and our fee
schedule for your reference.
Please pay the amount due ($20.00) prior to requesting your final inspections for this
project. I have enclosed a prestamped envelope for your convenience if you wish to
. make payment by mail, or you are welcome to make payment in person at our office.
Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. - noon and from 1 :00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Multi-Family Dwelling Unit
A portion of a building consisting of one or more rooms including sleeping, cooking,
and plumbing facilities arranged and designed as permanent living quarters for one
family or household; and which is attached to two or more dwelling units by one or
more common vertical walls. Typically, the units are in an apartment building or
complex, and are not separately owned.
Single Room Occupancy Dwelling Unit
A portion of a building consisting of one or more rooms including sleeping facilities with
a shared or private bath, and shared cooking facilities and shared living/ac'tivity area.
This definition also includes, but is not limited to "assisted living facility." Single room
occupancy dwelling units shall be charged at one-half th~ multi-family dwelling unit
SDC rate.
Accessory Dwelling Unit
A secondary, self-contained dwelling that may be allowed only in conjunction with a
detached single-family dwelling. An accessory dwelling unit is subordinate in size,
location, and appearance to the primary detached single-family dwelling. An accessory
