Personnel data, promotions, career highlights, and significant accomplishments. • Travis is most proud that he really helped Springfield public safety when he was hired as security. • At the same time he started as Security Attendant the LTD bus stop was located at 5th and B. Travis would often patrol the grounds around City Hall (he still does). • His presence helped to stop or prevent trouble and fights on City Hall grounds and at LTD station which in turn stopped trouble from spilling over to City Hall itself. 2. How has the Department changed over the employee’s career? • Travis has transitioned through at least four supervisors, two Division Managers and four Department Heads. • City Hall is now filled with City Staff where it used to have a lot of leased spaces he was not responsible for. • Downtown has grown and with the influx of new businesses and two high schools, City Hall sees considerably more daily traffic than when he started. • Travis started out with a few guaranteed hours ( as a part-time employee) and he is now a full time employee that often works hours of overtime a week due to all of the meetings and activities constantly taking place in City Hall. 3. How has the employee grown in their position and their career? • Travis has really grown from being a simple rule enforcer to being an advocate for City Hall and the City as a whole. • He has been building relationships with staff and our regular patrons to keep the building safe and secure. • You will often overhear him explaining why a rule or regulation is in place and why enforcing it is important for everyone involved. This has proven more effective than just confronting them to stop or kicking them out. 4. What significant projects or events has the employee been involved in? • Travis is involved with virtually every event that happens in or around City Hall and is often the first or only front line person that people first deal with at City Hall. • He has worked security and helped with logistics on countless meetings and celebrations each year, often for the City, Library and Springfield Museum. • He has also helped with important cultural events such as El Grito and visits from the MexicanConsulat and the Princess of Thailand. 5.
