FIRE CODE STANDARDS PRESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING CONDITIONS HAZARDOUS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM FIRE OR EXPLOSION, AND PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS AND MODIFICATIONS THERETO. THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1- Adoption of Uniform Fire Code. There is hereby adopted by the City of Springfield for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion, that certain Code and Standards known as the Uniform Fire Code, including those Appendix Chapters set forth in Section 101.8.1, and the Uniform Fire Code Standards published by the International Fire Code Institute, being particularly the 1997 editions thereof and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended by Sections 4 and 5 of this ordinance, one copy of which Code and Standards have been and are now filed in the office of the City Recorder and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the City of Springfield. Section 2 - Enforcement by Department of Fire and Life Safety. The Uniform Fire Code and the Exceptions and Modifications thereto set forth in Sections 4 and 5 shall be enforced by the Department of Fire and Life Safety. Section 3 - Jurisdiction. Wherever the-word ')urisdiction" is used in the Uniform Fire Code, it is City of Springfield, Oregon. Section 4 - Flammable or Combustible Limits. The limits referred to in Section 7902.2.2.1 of the Uniform Fire Code in which the storage of flammable or combustible liquids is restricted are hereby established as set forth in the Springfield Development Code and the Springfield Building Safety Codes. Section 5 - Amendments to Uniform Fire Code. The Uniform Fire Code is amended and changed as more particularly described and set forth in the "City of Springfield 1997 Uniform Fire Code Amendments," a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. Section 6 - Former Ordinances Repealed. All former ordinances or parts thereof adopting the code of standards known as the Uniform Fire Code conflicting or inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance or of the Code or Standards hereby adopted including specifically previous adoptions of the Uniform Fire Code and Exceptions and Modifications thereto are hereby repealed. Section 7 - Severability. The City of Springfield hereby declares that should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this ordinance or of the Code of Standards hereby adopted be declared for any reason to be invalid, it is the intent of City of Springfield that it would have passed all other portions of this ordinance independent of the elimination here from of any such portions as may be declared invalid.
