Dear Mr. Comstock:
Your Home Occupation Application was received on May 23, 1989. The application
cannot be accepted for review until it is completed.
The description needs to be completed. Because we have received complaints
about the operation of your business which involved more than a "business
office for carpet cleaning company" before we can review your proposal we need
specific information that was not provided. If you can provide information
about the following and include any additional information we may not be aware
of we will review the proposal.
Typical items which were not addressed include:
are you planning to install a sign?
does your operation require storage of materials, if yes, where do you
propose to store them?
is there any mechanical equipment involved in your operation?
How many employees do you have, are they family members, who are they?
When I telephoned your residence to discuss the need to apply for a permit a
man answered the phone and told me he was an employee of the business.
how many and what type of vehicles are associated with the operation?
do you receive all your business by phone, mail?
do you manufacture items on site?
is there any activity occurring on site besides a "business office for
carpet cleaning company"? The City would consider this description to mean
that there would be a bookkeeper and telephone associated with your business
and no vehicles, customers, employees, etc.

THE APPLICANT'S SIGNATURE OF THIS AGREEMENT CERTIFIES ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE FOLLOWING
CONDITIONS OF OPERATION:

EXCEPT FOR THE ONE NON-ILLUMINATED 1 1/2 SQUARE FOOT WALL SIGN PERMITTED IN ,/
SECTION 16.080(1) OF THE SPRINGFIELD DEVELOPMENT CODE, THERE SHALL BE NO DISPLAY
WHICH WOULD INDICATE FROM THE EXTERIOR THAT THE BUILDING IS USED FOR ANY PURPOSE
OTHER THAN A RESIDENTIAL DWELLING.
THERE SHALL BE NO OUTSIDE STORAGE OF MATERIALS. v/

IF THE PROPOSED USE REQUIRES A MODIFICATION TO THE DWELLING OR ACCESSORY '/

PROPOSED USE SHALL BE CONSIDERED INAPPROPRIATE AND THEREFORE INELIGIBLE AS A

8. COMMERCIAL AUTO REPAIR, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO TUNE-UPS, ALIGNMENTS, V/~
BODY-FENDER WORK, PAINTING AND DETAILING,pAND UPHOLSTERING SHALL NOT BE
PERMITTED.
9. NO MERCHANDISE OTHER THAN WHAT IS PRODUCED ON-SITE SHALL BE SOLD TO THE PUBLIC v-'"

IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT IF NEIGHBORHOOD COMPLAINTS ARE RECEIVED, THE NATL~_E OF THIS
HOME OCCUPATION WILL BE RE-INVESTIGATED. IF THIS HOME OCCUPATION IS FOUND IN
VIOLATION OF THE SPRINGFIELD DEVELOPMENT CODE, THE USE SHALL BE TERMINATED UPON
NOTIFICATION IN WRITING BY THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR.
IT IS FURTHER UNDERSTOOD THAT APPROVAL OF THIS APPLICATION DOES NOT EXEMPT THE
APPLICANT FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF ANY OTHER CITY CODES OR ORDINANCES.
