ITEM TITLE: HUD FUNDING AGREEMENT FOR CDBG
ACTION
REQUESTED:
Approve a motion to authorize the Mayor to execute the Funding
Approval/Agreement with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in order to receive and make available $466,694 in CDBG funding.
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
Annually, the City must execute a grant agreement with the Department of Housing
and Urban Development (HUD) in order to receive CDBG entitlement funds. The City cannot execute an agreement with sub-recipients who have been allocated
CDBG funds for the FY15/16 year until the City signs the grant agreement with
HUD.

DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
The City of Springfield’s FY15/16 CDBG entitlement award is $466,694. This
motion would allow the City to execute the Agreement – and then subsequently
execute agreements with program sub-recipients – as soon as the Agreement has completed the City’s typical internal review process. Staff has brought this item to
Council now so that the Mayor may execute the agreement as soon as practical.
