ISSUE
STATEMENT:
Willamalane Park and Recreation District Superintendent Bob Keefer will provide an update on the work Willamalane is doing to connect Springfield through paths
and trails. The presentation will include the latest details on the Mill Race Path and
the Mill Pond site.

DISCUSSION/
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Willamalane Park and Recreation District maintains and operates five recreation
facilities and 44 parks and natural areas totaling nearly 1,500 acres. These facilities and parks include: 13 waterfront areas, 21 miles of hiking and biking trails, 15
sports fields and 24 playgrounds. Willamalane offers hundreds of recreation
programs to Springfield residents of all ages and abilities.

Springfield and Eugene’s bike paths and beautiful parklands.

In addition to the many walking paths at
this historic park is a new trailhead
showcasing the Middle Fork Path, popular
with recreationists year-round.
DORRIS RANCH

MIDDLE FORK PATH
This 4-mile, 10-foot wide path provides people a
special opportunity to walk along the Middle
Fork of the Willamette River, enjoy outstanding
views of Mt. Pisgah and experience the sights,
sounds, and feel of nature at the edge of the
City.

•Jasper Road Trailhead will provide access to Mill Race Path

CLEARWATER PARK
This special use park is the western terminus of the Middle Fork Path and
features direct access to the Willamette River, two boat ramps, hiking
trails and picnicking.

Thurston Hills Natural Area
Partnerships have made possible the purchase of approximately 700 acres
on the Thurston Hills Ridgeline, fulfilling the vision of Willamalane
residents who value their natural environment and outdoor recreation.

When complete, the 3-mile Mill Race Path
will serve as a key link between
downtown and the Middle Fork Path.
