HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 03 Employee Recognition - Dean BishopSpringfield Upbeat April 20, 2015 Employee Recognition: Dean Bishop, 25 Years Professional  Dean came to the City of Springfield as a traffic technician and developed outstanding AutoCad skills and progressed in the Traffic Engineering Technician series to a Traffic Tech 4 rate.  Dean is known by the City Traffic Engineer as a “bulldog” because he won’t let go of a problem until it is solved. This a valuable trait when a traffic signal is not behaving and the horns are honking. Dean keeps his focus on the traffic signal controller and fixing it!  Dean’s coworkers value his friendship, steady performance under pressure, technical skills, and helpful attitude toward citizens, contractors and coworkers. Personal  Dean grew up in Long Beach California where his father was an expert machinist at an aerospace manufacturing company.  He is an Army veteran of the Vietnam war.  Dean is an excellent piano player, has eclectic musical taste and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music  Dean worked in the U.S. Forest Service in Arizona and Oregon  Dean loves to sail his boat locally and makes an annual trip to the San Juan Islands with friends to sail a larger live-aboard boat for a week.  Dean lives with his wife, Vicki, on a small farm west of Eugene where he has a menagerie of animals.  Dean is also a fine wood worker and enjoys his time in his workshop.
