ITEM TITLE: SPRINGFIELD COUNCIL MEMBERS – OATH OF OFFICE
ACTION
REQUESTED:
The City Attorney will administer the Oath of Office for City Councilors Sean
VanGordon, Hillary Wylie, Marilee Woodrow and Joe Pishioneri.
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
Elections for the positions of Springfield City Councilors for Ward 1, 2, and 5 were
held on May 20, 2014. Elections for the position of Springfield City Councilor
Ward 6 were held on November 4, 2014.

DISCUSSION/
FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
During the May 20, 2014 Primary Election, Sean VanGordon received the majority
of votes for the position of City Councilor Ward 1; Hillary Wylie received the
majority of votes for the position of City Councilor Ward 2; and Marilee Woodrow
received the majority of votes for the position of City Councilor Ward 5. Due to the
resignation of Bob Brew in July 2014, the position was filled through the election
process. During the November 4, 2014 General Election, Joe Pishioneri received
the majority of votes for the position of City Councilor Ward 6.
Section 27 in the Springfield Charter states, “Before assuming his or her office,
each City officer shall take an oath or shall affirm that he or she will faithfully
perform the duties of the office and support the constitution and laws of the United
States, the State of Oregon and the City of Springfield.”
The Oath of Office will be administered to Councilors VanGordon, Wylie,
Woodrow and Pishioneri during tonight’s Regular Meeting.
