SUBJECT: Occupancy Inspection at 655 North lA' Street, Springfield,
Oregon
Dear Mr. Burrington:
At your request, the Springfield Building Safety Division conducted
an inspection at the above referenced address. The purpose of the
inspection was to determine the suitability of the building for use
as an office building.
The proposed use is classified as a Group B-2 Occupancy. Based on
the proposed occupancy the existing conditions which are mentioned
below do not meet the minimum Building Safety Code requirements.
Corrective measures must be taken to install, repair or modify the
following items in order for the building to conform to applicable
safety codes.
Electrical
1. Install circuit breakers or blank covers in the open spaces
of all lighting panels to prevent accidental electrical
contact/shDCk.

6. Remove or provide access to the electrical outlet that is
covered by the partitiDn wall in the former dental area.
7. Electrical outlets are not to be located above baseboard
heaters where cords from the outlet may come in contact
with the heating element.
8. Repair or replace damaged and/or missing lighting fixtures.
9. Remove material and equipment stored in the required 3'
working space in front of main service equipment.
Plumbing
10. Cap or plug all open sewer and water fixture outlets on the
first and second floors to prevent potential hazard from
sewer gas entering building.
Fire and Life Safety
11. Provided one fire extinguisher on each floor level with a
minimum rating of 2-A. (RecDmmend 5 lb. multi-purpose type.)
12. Repair exit lights to working order.
