ITEM TITLE: WARD 6 CITY COUNCIL POSITION APPOINTMENT
ACTION REQUESTED: Ratify the appointment of Joe Pishioneri to the Ward 6 City Council position and administer the Oath of Office.
ISSUE STATEMENT:
Due to the July 7, 2014 resignation of Councilor Bob Brew, the Ward 6 City
Council position is vacant. Rather than advertise, interview and appoint someone to
serve the remainder of the term at that time, Council chose to leave the position vacant and allow the citizens to choose the candidate to fill the position through the
election process. Following the election, Council would appoint that person to fill
the position until the January 2015 effective date.
On November 4, 2014, the General Election was held with the Ward 6 position on
the ballot. Two candidates ran for the position of Ward 6 Councilor, and Joe Pishioneri received more than 50% of the votes. His elected term will begin in
January of 2015. In the interim, the Council will appoint Mr. Pishioneri to the position of Ward 6 Councilor.
The Oath of Office will also be administered during this meeting.

DISCUSSION/ FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
The term for this appointment expires December 31, 2014, with the elected term
beginning January 1, 2015. The elected term expires December 31, 2016.
