RE: Electrical Hazard
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Weiszbrod,
On August 25, 2014, I performed a scheduled inspection of your new ductless heat pump system.
While inspecting the electrical portion of the new system, I discovered a recently installed
electrical sub panel located in the garage wall, directly below the existing main electrical service
panel. An electrical permit and inspection are required for the new electrical sub panel
installation. We did discuss this while I was on site and to date no permit has been obtained.
Section R105.1 of the Oregon Residential Specialty Code states: A permit shall be obtained
through application to the building official when constructing, enlarging, altering, repairing,
moving or changing the occupancy, or installing any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing
system regulated by this code. This requirement applies to an owner, contractor or authorized
agent who constructs, enlarges, alters, repairs, moves, changes the occupancy of a building or
structure; or for the purpose of erecting, installing, enlarging, altering, repairing, converting or
replacing and electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system.
The above code section covers electrical improvements without permits and inspections and is
designed to prevent damage or hazardous conditions. Your anticipated courtesy and cooperation
is appreciated. If you have any questions, you may contact me at 541-726-3665.
Sincere y,
