RESOLUTION NO. 00-64 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE OREGON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION AND THE STATE OF OREGON TO ASSIST IN THE FINANCING OF THE COMMERCIAL METAL PRODUCTS WITHIN THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD, THROUGH THE OREGON BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT FUND. WHEREAS, Commercial Metal Products has proposed purchasing a manufacturing , facility at 3545 Marcola Road that will employ an additional 3 jobs within 36 months after the firm relocates its operations, and WHEREAS, the Common Council has targeted the assistance of local busine~ses, encouraging economic growth and development, and increasing the number of local jobs in the community as top priority issues, and WHEREAS, the Oregon Economic Development Department has asked the City of Springfield to consider approving the proposal by Commercial Metal Products for funding through the Oregon Business Development Fund, and WHEREAS, the Springfield City Council finds the purchase of the Commercial Metal Products facility (the 'Project') would foster the economic growth and legislative policy as set forth in ORS 285.403, and WHEREAS, ORS 285.413 requires before approval of an Oregon Business Development Fund project by the State of Oregon, that the governing body of the appropriate local government recommend the project, and WHEREAS, the City of Springfield finds the project is permitted under the acknowledged Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Comprehensive Plan and is consistent with the City's adopted Economic Development Plan, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds the completion of the 'Project' within the City of Springfield would be in the best interests of the citizens of Springfield. . . . NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Springfield as follows: That the City of Springfield requests the Economic Development Commission and the State of Oregon assist in the financing of the Commercial Metal Products Project within the City of Springfield, through the Oregon Business Development Fund. ADOPTED by the Common Council and approved by the Mayor of the City of Springfield, this 4 thday of December ,2000.
