We are attaching this letter to our application addressing all the questions satisfactorily.
We are needing a variance for a free standing sign to be placed on the comer of North
75111 street and the McKenzie Highway at the place that will meet city code. We answer
the four questions as follows.
1, There are unusual conditions associated with the propertv or structure
We are located east on the McKenzie Highway past the last residential tract of
Springfield. We need a larger sign to speak to the fast moving traffic of the
highway.
2. Granting of the variance would have no significant adverse affects on the public
welfare or neil!hborinll properties.
The sign, although larger, is in height and square footage to the city requirements.
The light surface is not overpowering and the sign surface is relatively small
because it is in three columns.
3. The need for a variance has not arisen solely from a previous code violation and the
hardshio is not self imoosed.
We have no previous code violation or self imposed hardship. This is our first sign
application.
4. There are no other practical alternatives that better meet the provisions of the
Sorinl!field sil!n code. .
We have had this sign offered to us by a manufacturing company that is a friend
of the Church. And it is advantageous to us because it is offered without cost.
We need to be as frugal as we can and this will be a great help if approved.
Thank you,
~
