HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 05 Employee Recognition, Shawn Krueger 10 YearsSpringfield Upbeat March 3, 2014 Employee Recognition: Shawn Krueger, 10 Years What personnel data, promotions, career highlights, and significant accomplishments best tell our Council about the employee?  Shawn began his career in the Maintenance Division, went through the apprenticeship program and became a journey maintenance tech there.  During that time Shawn completed his bachelor’s degree from the U of O in Environmental Studies.  Upon completion of his degree, Shawn identified a desire to become a part of the City’s Environmental Services Team. He was successful in that endeavor and was promoted to an ESD Tech position in the division handling the Illicit Discharge program successfully for several years.  Shawn continued to develop himself and his skill set and was eventually promoted to a Lead technician position in the City’s Industrial Pretreatment Program.  From there Shawn moved up to his current position as the City’s Industrial Pretreatment Program Coordinator. How has the Department changed over the employee’s career?  The Department has grown and changed significantly over the years, most recently going through a major reorganization. Shawn was instrumental in helping that reorganization process through his participation and willingness to take on more responsibility and complexity in the Industrial Pretreatment Program. How has the employee grown in their position and their career?  See #1, Shawn has virtually “grown up” with the City. He has matured significantly over the years and has developed himself into a key employee and leader in the Environmental Services Division. What significant projects or events has the employee been involved in?  Earlier in his career Shawn was instrumental in developing the City’s Spring Clean-up Program.  More recently Shawn has been an effective regional player as the Chairperson of the Oregon Association of Clean Water Agencies Pretreatment Committee.  In addition, Shawn has been key in keeping all the balls in the air that are necessary for an effective Industrial Pretreatment Program.  Shawn has developed himself as a diplomat when it comes to his relationships with the regulated community and also with his many internal contacts throughout the City. It is this ability to regulate effectively while still maintaining effective relationships with our valued City of Springfield businesses that really places Shawn in the ‘outstanding employee’ category as he quietly goes about his job. What positive comments do his/her co-workers have to share about the employee?  Shawn is a good friend, effective lead worker and very conscientious when it comes to his daily work.
