Tammy Breedlove began volunteering with the Springfield Police Department in March of 2012. Tammy has worked in the Crime Prevention Office doing data entry work for the Citizen’s Police Academy and sending out bi-monthly Neighborhood Watch reports. She has also assisted the City’s Human Resources Department by sorting job applicant pools into appropriate interview categories and by conducting research on vacation/sick leave compensation structure alternatives. Tammy is a hard worker, and volunteers despite the significant hurdles she has had to overcome. Tammy is deaf and significantly sight impaired, but through perseverance and determination she is able to do her work with only occasional assistance from an interpreter. The Oregon Commission for the Blind helped make this partnership with Tammy possible. They provided, at no cost, technology that allows Tammy to use a computer for data entry, email, and general office work. Unfortunately, Tammy is resigning her position on February 28th in order to move to Seattle.
