Pages: 1 This memo documents BHE's coordination with the City of Springfield and Springfield Utility Board (SUB) concerning the proposed installation of a trash compactor at the Willamalane Sports Park. Willamalane is proposing to install the compactor at a location just to the north of the existing trash enclosure located near the northwest corner of the Phase 2 field. In summary, the City of Springfield and SUB have agreed to allow installation of the proposed RJ-88 HT trash compactor without a roof over it and without a drain to the sanitary sewer system. The City would like the ground surface around the perimeter of the compactor to drain to the grassy swale located to the north and west of the proposed compactor location. It is important to note that installing the trash compactor without a roof or a drain to the sanitary sewer system constitutes an exception to the City's stormwater source control standards. This exception has been granted for the following reasons: • City believes Willamalane is particularly diligent in managing and maintaining their site, including the area around the existing trash enclosure. • The compactor is watertight. • The compactor contains an internal sump to allow accumulation of liquids. • The compactor is removed from the site to be emptied.
