Dear Mary,
I wanted to thank you for your hard work and dedication in assisting our homeless
citizens. As a founding member of the Springfield Shelter Rights Alliance, you have
continued to look for housing options and other services for our community members in
need. You have brought your ideas and concerns to the attention of the Council, City staff
and the community and it has truly made a difference.
Your recent work in bringing Conestoga Huts to the unhoused of Springfield has been
another example of your ongoing mission to provide homes for the homeless. With your
kind, yet persuasive manner, you have encouraged church leaders and others to allow
trailers and Conestoga huts on their property as part of the Overnight Camping program
administered by St. Vincent DePaul and approved by the City. Everyone deserves a safe
place to sleep and it takes all of us to make it happen.
Thank you again for your efforts in creating a safe and caring community for all of the
citizens of Springfield.
