Dear Mr Hopkins I am writing to you about my concerns for the developmental property on the corner of.s 51p1 and s 52nd st. I have lived in this neighborhood since 1997. I am very concerned about what this construction may do to our local area. even though the street we live on is not the best place to live in Springfield, it is my home. We have had theft and break ins that have increased within the last several years. I have a number of concerns, and they are as follows. 1. Our street is very narrow to drive down with cars parked on each side of the street. Driving down the street is a pain if you have on coming traffic. If you build option "c" parking will be a problem unless you build a parking lot. We do not have room on this street for visitors to the establishments you are going to build. 2. Property taxes. No one wants to pay higher taxes! How will this effect our local community as far as taxes are concerned? I am always for improving the area we live as long as it increases my property value, but can not pay higher property taxes. • 3. As a concerned citizen, I am always worried about the local economy and growth of our community. I am sure that with the building of these structures will come more jobs. With more jobs comes more people, with more people, more people could cause an increase in crime. The Springfield Police Dept is spread thin as it is. 4. We will need a cross walk and possibly another stop light. I am sure that you have taken all these things into consideration. WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER BAR OR DRINKING ESTABLISHMENT. We already have enough bars in town. I have spoken to several people on the street and they told me . they are considering moving away because they don't want an apartment complex built their because of the parking on the street and a possible increase in crime. All in all, I think it would be good for our community to build new structures on the lot and create more jobs. I just want our community to be safe. With building a bar, the crime rate will increase. In any case sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity to write you a letter about my concerns. Please make the right decision about what is built on that property. Very Respectfully. Brian W. Stenholm 235 south 52nd st Springfield Or 97478 Date Received: Z Z 11 1 Planner: SH •
