C.J SAFE T V a BBRJALOTY INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN Subject: Cadet Model RM Heater, Distance of Wall Can Surface to Floor As stated in the RM Owner's Guide, the indicated distance of 4-1/2" minimum for the cutting in of the heater opening in the wall is from the sub-floor, to which the wall bottom plate is attached. The feet of the wall can,, plus the wall plate thickness of 1-1/2" add up to the 4-1/2" noted in the instructions. Cadet was required to successfully perform the Underwriters Laboratory tests for safety at what is referred to as 'zero' clearance. This is the placement of the wall can, feet removed, atop the wall plate, i.e. 1-1/2" above the sub-floor. It is Cadet's preference that the mounting feet be used to space the wall can appropriately above the wall floor plate, thus providing a minimum of 4-W above the sub-flooring. It is recognized that the addition of floor covering over the sub-floor will diminish the 4-1/2" spacing; the product has been satisfactorily tested to a distance of 1-1/2" above a floor surface. The 12" recommended distance to the floor, we believe, provides longer and cleaner performance of the heater.
