Contractor applied to Building Official for
adjustment of building permit fee. The
contractor submitted contract showing
actual cost of contract for all carports
being $34,879.00. After reviewing all
information and plans which relate to the
carports, the Building Official has made
the following determination: Each carport
structure is being constructed on an
existing asphalt mat. The carport
structures are being constructed in a
manner which does not require the
number of supporting posts as required
on individually constructed carport units.
These units can be calculated using a
value of$10.00 per square foot instead
of$15.30 as listed on the Building
Valuation Data table as adopted by the
City on August 1, 2001. The applicable
permit fee, state surcharge, and
administrative fee will be refunded. Total
amount to be refunded is $336.37. The
plan review fee will not be refunded
because a value was not provided by the
contractor or the owner at the time the
plans were submitted for review and the
plan review was contracted out to a third
party by the City of Springfield. The fee
for plan review has been completed and
paid to the third party. Request for
refund submitted 1/14/02 - I hopper.?
