ITEM TITLE: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO JOIN THE CITY COUNTY
INSURANCE SERVICES WORKERS’ COMPENSATION SELF-INSURED
GROUP.
ACTION
REQUESTED:
Adopt/Not Adopt the following Resolution:
A RESOLUTION REGARDING BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE CIS
WORKERS COMPENSATION SELF-INSURED GROUP.
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
The City received approval from Council on 6/17/2013 to move workers’ compensation
coverage to City County Insurance Services.
Pursuant to ORS 656.430(7)(d)(B), the attached Resolution must be passed in order to
become a Member of the CIS Workers’ Compensation Self-Insured Group.

DISCUSSION/
FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
Pursuant to approval received from Council on 6/17/2013 The City has switched workers’
compensation carriers. Passing of this resolution formalizes the move.
Should the City not pass the attached resolution, we would be ineligible for workers
compensation coverage as part of the City County Insurance workers’ compensation pool.
We would also be without a workers’ compensation carrier and in violation of our
obligation to provide workers’ compensation services. This would result in significant legal
and risk exposure.
