ITEM TITLE: CITY ATTORNEY CONTRACT
ACTION
REQUESTED:
Authorize the City Manager to sign a contract with Matthew Cox with the firm of
Leahy, Van Vactor, Cox & Melendy LLC for general counsel services.
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
In January of 2012 the City entered into agreements with the new partners in the
firm of Leahy, Van Vactor, Cox and Melendy. Separate contracts are signed by
each partner who works simultaneously to fulfill the obligations of the firm. At that
time Matthew Cox was already under contract with the City through the end of FY
12. A new agreement with Matthew Cox is needed to co-term with the other
partners in the firm through the end of FY14.

FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
There is no change in the amount the City pays annually for general counsel
services.
