SSW Engineers Inc. submits this letter in response to the conversation between Robert Stolle and
Robed Castile regarding the use, occupancy, and potential hazards of the new stairs at 1100
Shelley St., Springfield, OR. The tenant, Turtle Mountain, LLC, has agreed to the following
measures to mitigate any potential hazards or injuries to a user of the stairs.
Comments:
1. What is the use and occupancy of the upper level?
The upper level is considered to be an unoccupied space and will only be used for
intermittent light storage.
2. The head room in the upper is low.
Since the upper level will only be used intermittently, the owner will provide a sign at
the top of the stairs warning all users that there is a low headroom situation and to
proceed with caution.
3. There are some low conduit and other potential hazards.
It is known that there are existing conduits and other potential hazards that may
cause injury if a person were to hit their head. To mitigate the hazard, all conduits
and other potential hazards will be wrapped in foam to prevent injury if a person
were to hit their head on it.
