BANKON ENDORSEMENT RESOLUTION
ACTION
REQUESTED:
Approve the following resolution: A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF A BANKON FINANCIAL SERVICES INITIATIVE IN
THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD TO SUPPORT UNBANKED AND
UNDERBANKED WORKERS
ISSUE
STATEMENT:
The Financial Stability ParntershipTM (FSP) is an initiative of United Way of Lane
County that works to help individuals and families in Lane County move toward
greater financial stability. FSP has begun building a BankOn initiative that brings
together financial institutions, nonprofit organizations and public sector leaders on
matters of financial inclusion.

FINANCIAL
IMPACT:
During the December 6, 2012 Joint Elected Officials meeting, members of the
Financial Stability PartnershipTM (FSP) initiative presented information about the
BankOn initiative and how it could assist at-risk citizens become financially stable.
The mission of BankOn is to raise awareness of the importance of having an
account with a financial institution and provides individuals and families with the
financial education and resources that help lead them to successful entry into the
financial mainstream.
Those working on this initiative asked local jurisdictions to offer support of this
initiative through a resolution. The attached resolution endorses the implementation
of a BankOn Financial Services Initiative in the City of Springfield. Council is
asked to adopt this resolution to show their support for the initiative.
