As we previously discussed the proposal is one that must benefit both the property owners as well as the greater population of the city. As city planners we understand the responsibility you have been entrusted with, including securing the future look and feel of our city. This is an equal responsibility we share as long-term residents of Springfield. My family has lived here for no less than 40 years. My wife and I were very selective in deciding on a permanent place to settle and build our house. We were equally selective about choosing a look and style house that would reflect well on both,ourselves and our good city. My wife and l were extremely careful in deciding the size,look and especially placement of the house on the property, so as to best facilitate an attractive, and conservative use of space that would allow for an ADU. To that end; I,am applying to place an ADU that i believe will benefit myself and the greater City of Springfield as a whole. The pians we'have submitted will follow In line with Springfield's future plans for growth and preservation as well as provide a secure place for my grandmother ( a disabled American veteran)to live out the rest of her life. The plans we are submitting accounts for the average set-back, approximately 25-30 for the neighborhood as a,whole. The plans also provide for an attractive house that will fit well within the confines of a mature neighborhood and yet will provide for the possibility of a future subdivision should that someday benefit both parties. The plans provide for an ADU that confines to the general outline of what the provisions of the statutes are designed to promote. Most of all, the plans provide for an ADU that will confine to the codes and requirements of the city of Springfield in spirit if not completely to the letter of the code. We understand'that the city planners are employed to enforce code and more importantly to provide for the future of our city. We also understand that the citizens of Springfield have empowered its planners to provide for exercising some level of flexibility of said codes when the ends will benefit both the city and the property owner. It is to this end and after several conversations with citoplanners, that my wife and I have decided to formally apply to build an ADU on our property at 422 south 37" street We earnestly hope that the city will approve the plans we are submitting., We are also committed to an equal level of flexibility to comply with the plans that our city planners have set in motion to protect the future of all citizens and their property values.
