Personnel data, promotions, career highlights, and significant accomplishments: • Sgt. Jones was hired in August of 1987 • He was promoted from Patrol Officer to Sergeant on August 8, 1998. • He has served in numerous capacities during his employment at Springfield Police Department. He is one of only a couple of people left in the Department that began their careers as Explorer scouts, a group which no longer exists. • He has served as a Detective, Patrol Officer and Sergeant during the course of his career. • He has served as a MAIT (major accident team) investigator and supervisor and an EVOC (emergency vehicle operator) supervisor. • He has served as both an administrative Sergeant and as an internal affairs and training Sergeant. • Over the years he has developed as both a technical equipment and vehicle expert coordinating the research, installation and implementation of many systems. 2. Sgt. Jones has received the following Chief’s Awards: • January 2010 – Assault • February 2010 – Gunshot Wound • August 2009 – Dispute/Shots Fired • November 2006 – Recovered Stolen/Armed Suspects • August 2006 – Hit and Run Investigation. 3. Sgt. Jones has also received 54 commendations during his career at the Springfield Police Department. These commendations have been from citizens, interdepartmental staff and others for a wide variety of things ranging from training to investigations.
